Overview

UpikaJob is now an HRIS: a platform that equips HR teams and managers to follow their people - reviews, skills, objectives, steering indicators. It began as something quite different, a tool for training organisations supporting young talent into work. I have been its sole designer since January 2024, and I lived that transformation from the inside, from the first redesigns through to the product as it stands today.

Challenge

The company realised its craft - structuring guidance, making progress measurable, equipping a mentor - reached far beyond apprenticeships. That meant speaking to a far more demanding audience, HR professionals, without disowning the expertise that made the product strong. A change of scale as much as of audience: more data, more roles, more business rules, and the usability expectations of a tool people live in all day.

Solution

Several successive redesigns, each carrying a shift in vision rather than a simple refresh. A visual identity reworked in depth, then a design system shared with the developer - primitives, tokens, documented components - so that coherence would hold as the product grew. And features taken end to end: user interviews and tests, framing, trade-offs, specs, design, then front-end in pair through to release.

Outcome

A complete HR platform whose design I now carry end to end: product vision, UX/UI, design system and front-end. I also designed then built the marketing site on my own, with AI-assisted coding tools, and I produce the brand's content: video, motion design, print, social media.

By the numbers

AI-assisted reviews, whose flows I designed and whose screens I built, sit at the heart of the product: 200,000 reviews have been held to date. UpikaJob is used by 50,000 employees in large groups, with a usage rate above 80%. In 2025, the product won the Sopra Steria AI & HR Innovation Award, together with SPIE.

The product did not always look like this.

  1. At first
    The product

    A tool for training organisations

UpikaJob supported young talent entering the workforce: tracking apprentices, interns and junior employees, with day-to-day guidance built in.

    My role

    UI/UX Designer

I took over the existing journeys, made the screens more reliable and brought components into line.

  2. First turn

The expertise built around young talent turns out to matter far beyond training organisations.

  3. Then
    The product

    The scope widens

HR teams and managers become users in their own right. The product moves beyond training and into talent management.

    My role

    Designer of the redesigns

I led the successive redesigns, reworked the visual identity and logotype, and laid the foundations of a design system shared with the developer.

  4. Change of course

UpikaJob becomes an HRIS - a complete HR platform, without giving up what it does best.

  5. Next
    The product

    An HR platform

Talent management, team tracking, tools for managers: the product gains functional depth and a higher bar for quality.

    My role

    Product Designer

I frame the product vision and UX decisions, then design the new product's interface, screen after screen, for HR professionals.

  6. In depth
    The product

    Features in their own right

Annual reviews, AI-generated summaries, chatbot, skills mapping, steering indicators, employee profiles: each building block calls for its own framing.

    My role

    Designing end to end

User interviews and tests, client feedback gathered first-hand, specs, sprints: every feature, AI screens included, goes from framing to release, paired daily with the developer.

    The product

An HRIS in its own right

The platform serves HR teams and managers - and speaks to them right down to its public site: offering, pricing, documentation.

    My role

Product Designer - design & implementation

I take charge of the product's front-end, paired with the developer. The marketing site, I designed then built on my own.

    A ready-to-use offering

An online offering a company can get started with on its own: a six-step setup assistant, ready-to-use review templates and a card-based form editor.

    My role

    Designing the onboarding

I am putting the off-the-shelf offering in place: the setup guided by Upikat, the app's assistant, the review templates and the form editor.
